Smart pot effect?

"Smart pots encourage massive lateral branching of a plants root system. in a hard sided container, a plants roots simply circle around when they hit the sides. this usually results in a couple big healthy roots but the rest are usually small and do not fill the entire container. because roots will not grow into an environment containing Co2, smart pots "air prune" the roots as soon as they grow into the sides of the fabric. this sends a signal to the plant to stop putting energy into that root and to branch out, creating new lateral roots. this process just repeats itself until the plant has a root ball the size of the smart pot, the roots literally fill the entire container...
more roots below the surface support more plant material above the surface = more buds!
